Call For Artists – Build a Profitable Art Business in 6 months. Orientation Starts on July 2nd

Build a Profitable Art Business

Get ongoing business development on Zoom (and eventually in-person) with this 6-month business development program.

Goals

Help 300 artists actualize a profitable business system that complements their creative cycle through design thinking approaches, workshops, and ongoing exhibits.

Creating an incubator

After years of researching how artworks, I have come to realize that we are all different, we live differently, we have different business development needs, different advertising needs and different ways of doing things.

I used the feedback from my research to design the ABLO and SMARTERai operational philosophies that borrow from proven project management principles. This incubation program is designed to accommodate artists and cater to their different business needs.

However, the Hiscox report notes that online art sales may be benefitting from growth in other e-commerce sectors, as 73% of art buyers said they had bought other products in a similar price range online before buying art online. In 2017, that figure was just 68%. --- Source

ABLO + SMARTER

All projects at CreativeUTO go through 4 phases of development. These phases are alpha, beta, launch, operate. ABLO is part of the SMARTER system; both ABLO and SMARTER are based on project management principles and that will help manage the community and the projects involved.  Projects can cycle back to any of the 4 phases in ABLO. One such project is an online collaborative incubator for artists. We’re in the BETA phase of setting up the online incubator.

BETA phase

We are in the alpha phase of the incubator, looking to gather a community of artists who will get to develop their business side through our workshops; where they will  get proper guidance to prepare a pitch deck for their organization detailing out  their value proposition, target market, sales funnel, and marketing plans.

While online art market growth may be plodding, one key trend has emerged: Big spenders—defined by Hiscox as collectors who spend more than $100,000 per year on art—are increasingly comfortable browsing and buying art online. The report notes that these big spenders are the most frequent visitors to online sales platforms, with 50% of them visiting multiple times per week—a big jump from the previous year, when just 38% of big spenders made multiple virtual trips per week to online art vendors. And those increasingly frequent visits are translating to more transactions—47% of big spenders said they bought art online in the last 12 months, up from 30% in the 2018 report. - Source

Personal Branding Workshop Facilitated by 5 X Tedx Speaker Bobby Umar

Overview

There are followers, there are leaders, and then there are thought leaders. Thought leadership is a key differentiator between those brands who are driving the conversation forward versus simply engaging in it.

It is a type of content marketing where you invest in the experience, talent and passion within you, your business, from your community, to drive the conversation and answer the biggest questions of your target audience on a particular topic.
Your personal brand is your promise to deliver to every person you come in contact with. It is your reputation, integrity and what your audience expects of you, whether they are your team, your tribe or your customers. Building a strong thought leadership personal brand will set you apart, create more opportunities, and help you stay on top of the innovative trends in your industry. Bobby Umar will share the 3 key aspects of a Thought Leadership
Personal Brand and drill deeper into the what and how on one of the key aspects: content creation and generating new ideas.

This will be a key aspect to building your business. There will also be a Q & A session where you can ask any question around your business and current state.

AGENDA:

  • Why invest in your leadership and personal development
  • What is personal branding and why it is important
  • Why thought leadership
  • How to determine your personal brand

Workshop – Microloans for Creative Entreprenuers

Micro Funding for Creative Entrepreneurs can go up to $5,000

My philosophy on getting loans, grants, or any kind of funding is that the loan has to be spoken for.

Think back when you asked your parents for money; you would never approach them and say, "will you give me money so I can be more comfortable?" It was more like, “will you give me money so I can do the thing which will result in the other thing?”

The more important the thing you wanted was,  the more care you'd put in to presenting a case for yourself. So you’d say, “Dad, I need a laptop so I can do homework more efficiently!”

Materializing the thing

The thing you want/need is very important; think about the amount of time you spent trying to materialize it. In the case of a computer, you researched online, looked at specs, and researched different price points. In the case of a computer, it’s easy to identify what you need it for and what results this computer will bring to the table. That will be the 1st stage of this program, you'll have to attend our workshop so we can identify the thing and justify why you should get micro funding for it.

The process

  • We do not take any commissions on micro loans
  • Micro funding is through Access Community Capital Fund
  • You must be a CreativeUTO Community Member

Stage 1

Once we are able to identify

  • What your thing is
  • Why you need funding
  • What you need it for
  • How you’ll pay it back

We go to stage 2

  • Connect you to ACCESS Community Capital Fund staff
  • We do not manage and or access any of the info below
  • ACCESS Community Capital Fund manages the info

Applicants will need to submit the following:

  • Credit report and score from Equifax or TransUnion
  • Two pieces of government-issued photo ID
  • Proof of residence (bank statement, utility bill etc.)
  • Notice of Assessment from Canada Revenue Agency
  • Business plan and cash flow statement
  • Quotations/invoices from suppliers
  • Resume

About ACCESS

ACCESS Community Capital Fund was formed in 1999 to help promising entrepreneurs with viable business plans gain access to financing not available through other sources. Individual loans are made using a character-based lending decision, where the abilities, skills, and commitment of the applicant in conjunction with the strength of the business plan are key decision criteria.

Workshops – We Worked on The Tempus Logo, Remotely

We are hosting remote workshops.

Following up from the previous workshop, we were able to detail the day to day operations for Ari's organization, Tempus Time Savers. This allows us to see, costs down the line, setup quotas, milestones we need to target and when amongst other things.

It also allowed us to work on his website/app, and the logo you see in today’s blog post, being able to send multiple revisions back and forth.

About our business development workshops

The Art of the Sale

The purpose of the workshop is for us to use elements of design thinking to build a business canvass model and learn to pitch our idea within 30 seconds to the class. The workshop will continue onward, with... social media hierarchy, sales funnel hierarchy and know thyself. It'll depend on group consensus.

Business Canvass Model

The results will be that you'll have a business canvass model that gives you the foundation to tell your your story, your idea to web developers, investors, clients, customers,

Workshop – Business Canvass Model for Tempust Timesaver

Today July 14th  I worked closely with Ari to build up a business canvass model for his organization.

The name for it is Tempus Timesavers.

A business canvass model is great because it creates a storyboard that allows us to clearly articulate our idea with and sell it in 30 seconds.

The business canvass model also starts creating a foundation for operations, marketing, website, the business' language and essentially the culture which will be converted into functions that get the operation going on a day to day basis.

Workshop is on Wednesday the 25th

Cheers

Workshop – The Art of The Sale with amuLight and Biizindam

Wow wow wow, I have to say, launching a new product is one of the most nerve wrecking experiences I have to face.

It never gets easier... Ever... Today marks the first time I hosted the Business Development Workshops for Creative Entrepreneurs.

It was attended by Tricia from amuLight and Keeshig-Tobias from Biizindam who were both amazing.

Through the workshop, we discussed who we were as entrepreneurs. I have over 20 years of selling stuff so I was able to go over sales philosophies, tactics and strategies. We briefly discussed social media and how to maximize presence organically without having to pay.

By the end of the class, they got to develop their idea through a Business Canvass Model so they had ways to compare ideas while developing it. Now they have a better understanding of how to sell it in 30 seconds.

The experience was transcending and humbling to me.

Thank you
