#Trending – Dani on Paper is our 1st Cover Artist

Unicorns

First up I'd like to thank everyone who has participated with the Symposium event and a special thank you goes out to Vivianne and Greenport Store for sponsoring the event. A lot of this is hybrid since we had to design something versatile enough to deal with COVID-19 and the way it’s impacted society.

Creative Community + Productive Vibes

With our membership growing, we will be able to do more for our community like bringing in gurus to host workshops, putting up book shows more often, creating art installations, and sponsoring members’ showings. Our goal is for members not to have to worry about the payment because we will have our own space where our artists can come in, work, and exhibit.

  • Here is a video with exhibit records from two sources. (Unfortunately, there was a technical difficulty with the sound,)

The end of Phase 2

We are coming to the end of Phase 2 and have learned a lot while launching Symposium. Some highlights include getting metrics on what works and being able to present a prototype for our merchandising line, thus maturing our merchandising strategy.

Call to Artists: Symposium Book 2

I have been writing down ways to streamline the next event; this includes eliminating Patreon and bringing shops to CreativeUTO. We are also hosting an orientation session where we gather all the artists in one space to walk them through and set the tone. The first session is set for January 28th at 7 pm. Location TBD

We are looking for our $2,000 Cover Artist

We also have plans to make the purse bigger than the last one at $2,000 for the Cover Artist and $500 for the Featured Artists. We are also rewarding the artists who get the most views on our website as the artist of the month; they will receive $100

Into Phase 3.

In this phase we're going to work towards a prototype for our first book; Radical Dreams of Kindness & Equity, and here are the artists who made it.

Shop – The Colorful Paintings of Adele Steinberg

I have been painting for over 20 years. I have taken numerous workshops and learned from a myriad of excellent art teachers to whom I am most grateful.

I paint daily in my studio. I have an open mind and love to try new approaches. I have learned from many outstanding Toronto artists, and being a member of the Willowdale Group of Artists has influenced my love of art. I have participated in over 20 art shows including several solo shows with the North York Visual artists and have sold many paintings in both art shows and privately.

Painting is my passion, and I plan to continue the journey of discovery forever. I worked as an elementary teacher in Gifted Education for most of my career including teaching art which I found very rewarding.

Shop – Melissa Moffat Mixed Media Artist

A real photographer’s eye has pushed Melissa Moffat’s vision into the world of mixed media. A talent for composition and whimsy — as well as her studies in applied photography, psychology, and religion — sets her fine-art collages apart from the rest.

Years behind the shutter snapping portraits of high profile musicians left her wanting to create art on a more intimate and emotional level.

Stripping down the pages of magazines, comics and books gave Melissa the therapeutic and meditative experience she sought. Her passion for comic culture proved to be an explosive element that exposed her to the world.

Comic lovers continue to embrace her art and allow her to connect to people on a tangible level. Her work currently adorns the walls of public spaces, hotels and the homes of the glitterati.

Symposium: Art Anthology

Unicorns!

We are headed into the final leg of our collaborative exhibit.

The purpose of the Symposium event is for us to work around Covid-19 and use our social media platform and intimate physical space to curate an art anthology. The event includes Creative Unicorns of Toronto, alongside Toronto artists, and our guests.

The theme for the event is Radical Dreams of Equity Kindness. We're asking artists to envision a world after COVID-19. Art from the exhibit will be animated on merchandise like mugs, posters, t-shirts, and a quarterly art anthology.

Participating guests get their favorite art through Patreon where they can start as low as $10 per month. Patreon members get VIP access to the exhibit online and at GreenPort Cc on 686 Collge St. Guests also get access to the digital version of the anthology on CreativeUTO.ca. Shop – Tracy Money Queen: Determined, Resilient & Strong

An Aries and true to her sign, Tracy is determined, resilient, and strong. She values leadership and courage, always working to improve herself daily.

Tracy grew up rather modestly with very little money. Inspiring and pushing her at a very young age to learn the value of a dollar eventually allowed her to manifest her financial goals. Alongside individuals who have shared tools, tips, and knowledge that have been monumental during her journey.

Looking back at all the years she had not touched a paintbrush or charcoal pencil; Tracy had felt utter disappointment and was resentful. She had stored all her abilities in a box after her dreams came crashing down, if she couldn’t attend University and pursue a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts then she believed she had failed and would again never feel that passion. Or so she thought!

Its really funny how the universe works! She never forgets your dreams; we are often the ones creating blockages in our minds… It's been exactly 16 years since Tracy has felt that artistic passion. She hadn’t realized up until now and thanks to her dear friend, that art has been the missing puzzle piece to her life up to this point. Her friend couldn’t have been more right about that!

Relearning a skill, you thought you had lost is like riding a bike, a gift is never lost. It is so true; Tracy has never felt more confident and the blockades she had created in her mind were finally opening and inspirations flowed through like a floodgate to her soul.

“Get in touch with yourself. The fountain of creativity begins with the stream of conscious thought flowing inside you. Open the floodgate and creative ideas come rushing out.” – Nita Leland

Soul-working has taken Tracy on quite the journey thus far, she could have never envisioned a few years ago that she would be thriving in her element. Pursuing her dreams of becoming an artist, collaborating with members of the beautification group by creating a 4x8 feet acrylic mural named “A Flip of Faith” with the help of her two daughter's that is showcased within the downtown core of her town as an initiative in beautifying the community. She has created an online presence for her charcoal and acrylic pieces and has commissioned several charcoal portraits and has created a name for herself in the artistic community. To think that unraveling and writing down in a blog all of her thoughts/emotions she had pushed down for most of her adult life would eventually help her find that missing puzzle piece; her artistic passion.

All Tracy can say is never give up on yourself, the universe always finds a way in helping you learn the lessons required for you to truly become the person you’ve always dreamt. She often catches herself smiling at how everything has unraveled so far. Your guardian angels and guides are always there for you when you least expect it.

Love Tracy aka Mrs. Money Queen

Shop- Self Thought Toronto Artist Jennie Belaiev

I am a Toronto based Canadian artist and I had a passion for creating ever since I could remember. I absolutely love experimenting with different tools, mediums, and subjects. I am self-taught and a firm believer that although creating art is a skill, it is mostly the expression of your being. And that every one of my paintings represents me in some way or another.

#Podcast – Introducing Kristen Stephen Abstract Painter

Weekly Actualization Workshops

A lot of fun at this meeting with some exciting updates..

A few new faces at this meeting, we would like to welcome; Anna Galkina, Blaine White, Caspar de Gelmini, Apanaki Minerve, Karlon Dezylva, and Jose Cifuentes. The symposium is getting bigger and better every day.

Michael went over in greater detail the artist model canvas and how we are truly an art collective working to help artists become entrepreneurs.  He went over the specifics of how CUTO can help each member individually and as a group.

We discussed the linguistics and timeline of the art anthology.  We aim to have the anthology ready at the beginning of December, right on time for the holidays.  The new application deadline is November 20, and the competition closes on December 4.

We have increased the prize money for Symposium.  The cover artist now receives $1200.00 and the two feature artists receive $600.00 each.  Please tell everyone to get out there and vote for your artwork, through www.creativeuto.ca

We answered questions regarding the symposium event and how the voting process specifically works.  We discussed featuring artists on the website and social media, and how CUTO can help each artist with their brand.

Artist shops are now up and running on the website, and artists will be able to update and maintain their own shops in the future.

Introducing Kristen Stephen Abstract Painter

Kristen Stephen did a podcast discussing her artwork and life as an artist which everyone can view on the website.  Our goal is to have every artist do their own podcast, with an artist spotlight, please reach out to Rachel and let her know you would like to do that.

Learn about Kristen’s one kind technique using inks and glitter to create illuminating images that are simply breathtaking.  In this candid interview, we discuss not only Kristen’s artistic practice but what being an artist means to her and how she has overcome the challenges of Covid-19 in our new reality.
