Video – David S. Thompson: My Art, My Way, My Story
When I first started developing The Annex Art Party back in 2017, one key point I made was to be surrounded by artists. Never in my wildest dreams had I imagined there'd be these many flavors of artists.
Unique amongst them is artist David S. Thompson, he was kind enough to let us publish his story on CreativeUTO.ca.
He describes it as going through his deepest and darkest days of depression, hopelessness and total loss of self worth. His story comes full circle however, he rediscovered himself as an artist. His social media shows he’s one of the hardest working artists out there, using a secret formula to provide us with realistic hand drawn pictures from various musicians that make up our playlists.
David S. Thompson will be returning for his 4th TAAP event this Saturday August 25th
Dave Thompson on his PowerPoint presentation
Well this was my PowerPoint presentation to Kitchener-Waterloo city officials and honored guests at their yearly function about how art was able to guide me through my deepest and darkest days of depression, hopelessness and total loss of self worth.
A moment to cherish forever
Mid way through my speech I must admit I thought to myself "what am I'm doing up here...nobody cares about my stupid story ...I'm just making a fool of myself". Then at the end when I said "Thank you"..I walked of the podium with my head down looking at the floor saying to myself "that was terrible". ..and then in a fraction of a second something happened I'll remember and cherish forever.. I heard clapping and cheers and when I looked up I saw them all standing clapping and cheering me on.
The most amazing feeling
It was absolutely the most amazing feeling I've ever had. I hope somehow now that I can give hope to the hopeless . . courage to the meekly depressed and a fighting spirit to go through the toughest of times and to show that yes...IT CAN BE DONE.
